These Persian area rugs are sold in the marketplaces of villages and towns within the province. Most of these carpets are sold with the Hamadan nomenclature; however, some villages name the rugs according to their village name. Like many Persian carpets, the Hamadan Persian area rugs are well known and each village that produces these area rugs leaves their distinct mark or signature with certain types of designs.
Similar to the Persian weaving techniques and style, these rugs have medallion and corner patterns, boteh or herati as well as strong geometrics.
