About this Rug
An extraordinary hand knotted and hand carved work of art from India. The floral designs are raised from the rest of the pile by several centimetres. This is achieved by the painstaking hand carving and shearing of the background pile centimetres lower than the floral motifs. Harrir, or silk as it is known in Persian, is used to accentuate the raised fmotifs. These ornate designs are taken from antique Persian rug styles of the 18th century. These extremely fine wool and silk rugs are very rare.
