Anatolian rugs and carpets are handmade by semi-nomadic tribes who live along the Turkish Mediterranean coast. Wool and locally produced natural dyes are used in their weaving. Predominant colours used are bright red, dark blue, beige, caramel and to a lesser degree white. The designs used have representation of flowers, ears of grain and stylized animal and human figures.
