Oriental Rugs

Superb colors and unique designs come together in our highly prized collection of Oriental rugs. ... There is a certain poetry about the weaving of these rugs we like to consider. The family or tribal legends worked into the patterns, the religious or ethical references to the makers of the blended colors - these are among the many special moments that go into the production process. The glory of these old rugs that have been the marvel of connoisseurs and scholars for centuries is growing in admiration today.

For that, we stand lost in wonder as we source these treasures of the East and bring you a handpicked curation of antique and vintage rugs.

    MORE ABOUT ORIENTAL RUGS

An oriental pile rug consists of hundreds of thousands of loops of wool individually tied by hand around the warp strings (i.e those stretched lengthwise on the loom) and firmly anchored by the weft strings (i.e those running crosswise). There is no shortcut to avoid the painstaking work involved in this method of producing the pile of an oriental carpet. In the finished rug the warps are thereby the ‘spine’ running from end to end and the last few inches of warp that are left protruding at each end form the fringe.
