We've tried to cover all common queries; however, if you can't find an answer below, please contact us at [email protected].
We have a mixture of semi-antique, vintage and new woven rugs. Our semi-antique and vintage rugs are professionally cleaned and restored (if need be) but natural imperfections are inherent in these handcrafted items.
We classify a semi-antique rug as one that’s roughly 20-50 years old and has not been altered from its original state. Our semi-antique collection consists of carpets that have either been preowned in their country of origin, showcased in galleries or kept in storage. Each rug has undergone professional cleaning and inspection. Slight imperfections are normal and add to the character and charm of these handmade pieces.
Many of our rugs are one-off pieces that we have carefully chosen for their unique character, so once sold we cannot re-source the exact same piece again. We do, however, have an extensive collection of our 30,000 carpets many of which come in similar design and styles so please browse our shop and let us know if we can assist you by emailing [email protected]
You will find that our extensive rug collection is mainly comprised of unique and one-of-a-kind pieces. If you happen to find a rug that you love but wish for it in another size, please let us know. We cannot guarantee that we will find that exact piece in the preferred size but we shall do our best to send you plenty of close options.
We do our best in the studio to make sure that rug colors are as accurately represented as possible and have professionally set up lighting to best match natural daylight. We do advise shoppers to refer to the close-up product images (image 5-9) for the best color accuracy along with the color pantones.
It is important to note that for rugs with a higher (thicker) pile, colors may appear more or less dark depending on which end of the rugs’ length you are viewing from. The reason for this is because hand-knotted rugs are woven upright on a vertical loom to which the weaver pulls down on each knot whereby a natural slope of the carpet pile is formed in one direction. That said, if you are viewing the carpet where the pile is angled towards you, the carpet will appear lighter. If you are viewing the rug from the other end where the pile is pointed away from you, then the colors will appear slightly more intense. All our rugs are photographed capturing the darker side of the rug.
Lastly, there may be slight variations in what you see on screen depending on your computer’s color, contrast and brightness settings. We would be happy to provide additional imagery for your peace of mind prior to purchase, please get in touch via email or phone.
Abrash is the natural variation in the color and texture of the carpet caused by differences in textures and dyes. This causes a horizontal striped appearance in areas of the same color of the rug.
Many new rugs woven in India and Pakistan are often sheared after the weaving process in order to achieve the ideal pile height for the style. The shearing process itself can leave small fibers that can be seen as “shedding” when the rug is new. A quick vacuum will get rid of these loose threads for good! Do not pull loose ends. Clip them with scissors.
All rugs that are 4’ x 6’ and larger are folded on their width, rolled and packaged securely for shipping. Folding the rugs for shipment will not damage them as cotton and wool are very malleable and natural materials. However, it is normal for creases to reveal when you unfold your carpet but rest assured that the fibers will resume their normal position once the carpet has laid out for a few days.
